GCSE Results 2024

A record 78 students were entered for public examinations this summer at Malden Oaks. The logistics involved in the running of the exam season were highly complex, with exams taking place at four different sites as well as in students’ homes.  The vast majority of students were entitled to access arrangements, so an army of staff and MC members were trained as invigilators and facilitators.

The outcomes are fabulous and represent a huge effort by students and staff. Many of our students have had very negative experiences in previous educational settings, and so their results are all the more laudable. They have overcome anxiety, shown high levels of resilience and in almost all cases, covered a 2 year course in a much shorter amount of time. Their results are proof of our strongly held principle that it is absolutely never too late to catch up and achieve.

Particular highlights include:

  • GCSE Grade 9s in English Literature, Religious Studies and Russian

  • Our first A level - a grade B in English Literature and AS Level - a grade B in Sociology

  • 231 GCSE grades achieved with 85 of those at grade 4 or above.

  • Entries in 22 different GCSE subjects across the school, a unique offer for an Alternative/Special school
