Arts Award Music
The Arts Award Bronze and Silver Music Course aims to inspire and engage young people through workshops in music technology, creative songwriting, performance, and spoken word. The Arts Award courses in music are designed to provide students with the skills to become young musicians (Bronze) and to gain entry to performing arts and music courses at college (Silver). Each student decides on their own pathway to success by choosing from the following weekly lesson options: Singing and Vocal Studies, Guitar, Piano, Music Technology, and Song Writing.
Each student will create an online blog of their progress and will take part in a group performance at the end of the school year. Typical tasks on the course are to: compose an original song on Logic Pro and record lyrics, to perform an original live song, to share skills and give a lesson, and to organise, lead, and promote a concert.
Each young person leaves with a musical track, portfolio of their work, experience of leading their own music session, and an Award Bronze (Level1) or Silver accreditation (Level 2).
The course offers one-to-one support for students looking to gain entry to music courses at college, with workshops in interview techniques and audition preparation. Informal concerts are held throughout the year with performance workshops culminating in a live community concert.
