Tuition Service Teacher

0.8 - 1.0 FTE | MPS + SEN 1   [Capped at M6] | Permanent Contract

Start date: 1st September 2024

An exciting opportunity to join a growing team to deliver high quality, personalised learning opportunities to students with SEMH needs.

Due to increasing demand, we are looking for skilled, motivated and creative teachers to work within our committed and professional tuition service staff team.

Do you believe that learning goes beyond the classroom and that progress can be seen in a number of ways? Can you recognise that positive attachments are at the heart of students achieving their best?  Are you aligned in our thinking that altruism is crucial to the development of self-confidence and a sense of worth? Do you enjoy seeking out opportunities for students to develop their autonomy whilst building the necessary skills for their next steps?

If these echo your beliefs and you would welcome the opportunity to work in a supportive environment where you have the capacity to build meaningful relationships with students, teaching individuals or small groups, but still be able to teach students with the potential to achieve high grades at GCSE, Malden Oaks Tuition service would be delighted to hear from you.

Despite our small size we are committed to offering a broad and balanced curriculum which currently includes 18 GCSE subjects to allow students a huge choice and develop their interests. Supporting our students in developing positive relationships, self-confidence, resilience, and creativity is crucial to our ethos and is not measured solely by our academic results but by the views of our past and present students.

Our tutors have the privilege of focusing on a small number of students and transforming their experience of education.  A comprehensive, weekly CPD programme and regular group supervision complements a supportive environment that allows for the autonomy to teach more creatively and fosters a  strong sense of community.

A unique opportunity to teach individuals/small groups and make a difference

Tuition Service Teacher

Bank/casual hours  contract (flexible hours) -  MPS 1-6

Would you like more time to build relationships with your students, teaching individuals and small groups, but still be able to teach students with the potential to achieve high grades at GCSE?

We can offer you the opportunity to focus on a small number of students and transform their experience of education.  We understand that teachers may be apprehensive about teaching in an alternative provision and we would encourage you to watch our video (on the home screen) as these will give you an insight into our students, their views, and the difference you could make to them.  You would also be supported by a formal induction process and training opportunities.

Despite our small size we are committed to offering a broad and balanced curriculum which currently includes 18 GCSE subjects to allow students a huge choice and develops their interests. Supporting our students in developing positive relationships, self-confidence, resilience, and creativity is crucial to our ethos and is not measured solely by our academic results but by the views of our past and present students.

The post holder needs to be able to teach across the KS3 and KS4 curriculum, predominantly in a 1:1 setting in students’ homes. The post is also suitable for teachers with KS2 experience.

Unqualified Teacher Pay Range

Have you finished your degree and looking at what to do next?

Have you finished teacher training but decided that the classroom is not for you?
Is the idea of teaching a large classroom of students daunting and putting you off?

We can provide a unique opportunity to explore teaching individual
students/small groups. We can provide the network and support of a school
environment together with a full professional development programme.

We are looking for new graduates who might be considering their options and may have thought
about teaching but do not wish to commit to the training yet and wish to ‘dip their toes’ without the
pressure of formal teacher training.

We are also looking for those students that have embarked on teacher training but in the course of
doing so have decided that the classroom environment is not for them.

We can offer you the opportunity to focus on a small number of students or individual students and
transform their experience of education.   You would be able to experience teaching supported by a
formal induction process and training opportunities.

Despite our small size we are committed to offering a broad and balanced curriculum which
currently includes 18 GCSE subjects to allow students a huge choice and develop their interests.
Supporting our students in developing positive relationships, self-confidence, resilience, and
creativity is crucial to our ethos and is not measured solely by our academic results but by the views
of our past and present students.

The post holder needs to be able to teach a range of subjects but you would be supported by subject
specialists in order to do this and we would only expect expertise in your chosen subject area.
Tuition is carried out predominantly in a 1:1 settings in students’ homes. The post is also suitable for teachers with KS2 experience.
