Physical Education (Exam Board – Edexcel)

At Malden Oaks School, the PE subject philosophy is ‘Fitter, healthier students make better learners’.  To this end we provide practical and theory related lessons at KS3 and KS4, with GCSE PE being a popular option for KS4 students.  We have excellent local links with a number of providers in and around the area and regularly provide students with weekly opportunities to get involved in a range of activities.

Our GCSE students this year will enjoy off-site activities at Albany Park Water Sports Centre, White Spider Urban Climbing, Sandown Ski Centre and Surbiton Boxing Club to name a few.  We therefore aim to provide an environment where every student can achieve a level of success.

Combined with the Wednesday afternoon activity programme, there are also further opportunities for swimming at the Hampton Lido, Golf at New Malden and Cycling in Richmond Park which caters for all ability levels.

KS4 students will follow the Edexcel GCSE PE specification which involves both practical and theoretical components. Students will learn about the importance of Fitness and Body Systems and Health and Performance, and focus on the factors which enable optimal performance.
