Art & Design

The Art and Design curriculum at KS3 is designed to give a wide breadth of study both in terms of technique and knowledge.  The techniques and skills cover a range of media in 2D and 3D work.  At the same time, the pupils are exposed to works of other artists, craftspeople and designers of the present, past and from other cultures.

Study Areas Include:

Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Printmaking, Ceramics, Mixed Media, Research and Presentation Skills, ICT use and understanding art work from other artists times and cultures. A selection of students art work can be viewed in our gallery.

Important Aspects of the Course:

Establishing, developing and improving a wide range of drawing, painting and making skills using 2d and 3d techniques and materials. Improving independent research skills and use of sketchbook. Improving analytical, critical and evaluation skills.

Examination Board: OCR

Coursework Component: A Themed Project 60%

Examination:  Externally set Task 40%. Eight week preparation period and 10 hour examination
